ABOUT UTTARANCHAL UNIVERSITY: 

Uttaranchal University, one of the leading educational hubs is constituted with the merger of professional institutes of Sushila Devi Centre for Professional Studies & Research Society, namely Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology and Uttaranchal Institute of Management. It offers an array of multi–disciplinary courses making it a knowledge portal course with innumerable students from all over the country have enrolled in a different educational program. 

Uttaranchal University can boast of pride an institution par excellence and is located in a fascinating geological setting. It is flanked by NH-72 on one side and a beautiful broad slithering river on the other side. The pine trees surrounding the area lend a pristine and wholesome ambience to the campus.

ABOUT LAW COLLEGE DEHRADUN: 

Law College Dehradun, as an institution of Uttaranchal University under the aegis of Sushila Devi Centre for Professional Studies and Research was established in the year 2002, as the first independent Law College of Uttarakhand. The college was the visionary project of Shri Jitendra Joshi, then chairman of the college and present President of the Uttaranchal University along with his plenipotentiaries from across the academic spectrum. Within a short span of time, the college registered its reckoning presence, becoming one of the most sought after destination in the field of legal education. The college which was initially affiliated to Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University became a top-spot, producing a series of gold medalists and university merit holders. As luck would have it, Law College Dehradun along-with its sister colleges Uttaranchal Institute of Technology and Uttaranchal Institute of Management reached its practical zenith through their merger in the form of Uttaranchal University in 2013 with the passing of Uttaranchal University Act, 2012. 

ABOUT TRAINING & RECRUITMENT DIVISON: 

The Training and Recruitment Division comprises all Class Representatives of their respective batches. The division works in close coordination with the Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) to ensure smooth communication, effective organization, and successful execution of training and recruitment-related activities. 

The division functions under the guidance of Ms. Purnima Tyagi Faculty-in-Charge, who provides valuable direction and support in its operations. 

Through its efforts, the TRD cultivates leadership, accountability, and professional ethics among students, preparing them for higher responsibilities in their academic journey and beyond. 

COMPETITION GUIDELINES:

1.Registration will commence on 1st October 2025, and the last date for registration is 15th October 2025. 

2. Eligibility: Law Students, Scholars, Academicians, Lawyers, and Legal Professionals are eligible to participate. 

3. Co-authorship is not permitted. 

4. Essays should be :  

• Original (Max 10% Plagiarism is allowed)  Not exceeding 3000 words (excluding footnotes) In English 

Note: Font style should be ‘Times New Roman’ with Font size ‘12’ for the body of the Essay and ‘Times New Roman’ with font size ‘10’ for footnotes. 

5. Footnoting Format shall be as provided by Indian law Institute. (ILI standard footnoting style). 

7. Competition will be held in 2 levels: 

Level 1: WRITING ROUND 

• Out of the submitted essays, the top 5 essays shall be selected. (Results: 6th November, 

2025 

Level 2: PRESENTATION ROUND 

• The top 5 scorers shall present their paper online through a Google meet and based on this First,  Second and Third Prizes shall be declared. 

8. Certificates will be provided to all participants. 

9. Each participant shall be allotted an individual code, which must be mentioned on the top right corner of the final submission. (eg. IC-XX) 

10.Participants must not disclose their personal identity or the name of their college/institution anywhere in the essay. 

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA - WRITTEN ROUND: 

1. Language and Grammar – Accuracy, fluency, and correctness of expression. 

2. Application and Relevance of Law – Appropriate use and contextual relevance of the legal provisions cited in the manuscript. 

3. Clarity of Ideas – Logical flow, coherence, and ease of understanding of the arguments presented. 

4. Practicality and Feasibility of Suggestions – Realistic and implementable nature of the recommendations provided in the manuscript. 

PRESENTATION STRUCTURE & TIME ALLOCATION: 

1. Each presentation must be structured into three segments: Introduction, Core Content, and Conclusion. 

2. The time limit for each presentation is 5 minutes. 

3. In case of any technical glitches, an additional 2 minutes may be allotted. 

4. Participants are expected to maintain and professionalism throughout the competition. 

5. Participants must ensure a stable internet connection and test their devices in advance to avoid interruptions. 

6. Exceeding the allotted time without valid reason may lead to deduction of marks/penalties as per the discretion of evaluators.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: 

1.All submissions must be made only through the submission link. 

2. The essay must be written in English and submitted in Microsoft Word document format (.doc/.docx). 

3. Only one submission is allowed per person. 

4. The essay must be original and bonafide work of the participant. 

5. Incomplete, Not adhering to the submission guidelines or plagiarised submissions shall be summarily rejected. 

6. The word limit is 3000 words excluding footnotes. 

7. The essay should not be submitted for any other competition and/or for any other purpose. 

8. Soft copy of the Essay shall be submitted to:

by 11:59 PM latest by 30th October, 2025, along with author’s name(s) and contact number(s). The essay shall be uploaded in both Word and PDF formats. 

PRIZES:

Cash Prize: 

● 1st Position: Rs. 5100/- & Certificate 

● 2nd Position: Rs. 3100/- & Certificate 

● 3rd Position: Rs. 2100/- & Certificates 

-Hard Copy of Certifcate of Merit will be awarded to top 10 participants. 

-Hard Copy of Certificate of Participation will be issued to all the registered participants. 

TIMELIME: 

Commencement of Registration: 01st October, 2025 

Last Date of Submission: 30th October, 2025 

Level 1 Results: 06th November, 2025 

Level 2 Results: 17th November, 2025
